Our community is guided by people like you who have wandered the desert of purposelessness, who have activated their purpose and are committed to helping others on the journey.

ORIGINS
In 2018, Brandon Peele's book, Planet on Purpose, articulated a vision for humanity and a pathway to create a purpose-driven human presence on earth.
In May of 2020, in the midst of a planetary shutdown, economic collapse and social unrest, we are called to ask ourselves the big questions, -who are we in the face of widespread illness, death, unemployment, and chaos-, A new vision for a community emerged, one that would connect us and activate purpose and prosperity for the whole human family. Recognizing that: We need each other and want to thrive, But the old normal kept us lonely (61% Cigna, 2020), stressed (67%, Gallup, 2018) and living paycheck to paycheck (78%, Careerbuilder, 2017), And most online communities lack trust, safety, decency, vulnerability, virtue, and a shared purpose, It is clear that we need purpose and community now more than ever. As the vision took form, terms like inclusive, affordable, safe, secure, connected, ad-free, respectful, simple, accountable, sovereign and compassionate kept bubbling up. Shared agreements felt important. A monthly gathering felt important. A weekly newsletter felt important. A safe, easy-to-use communication tool to nurture connection, and feel supported and inspired to take new purpose-aligned actions felt important. Of course, a purpose-driven career and community is not all that we need. We also need clean air and water, healthy soil, organic food, a living wage, physical safety + security, civil rights, an inclusive culture that values the dignity of all life, affordable healthcare and education, a sustainable economy and a functioning democracy. As purpose is a bridge between our hearts and the world, we need a space to talk about these things as well, so that we can live and and lead with our purpose in a world that aches for it. PURPOSE
Our purpose is to support each other and make the purpose journey easy, social and available to everyone.
We are a community of purpose-driven professionals that chooses authenticity over conformity, connection over isolation, hard truths and purpose over outdated visions of achievement and accumulation. Simply, we are people who choose to live our purpose, create purpose-aligned careers, nurture fulfilling local communities, and empower every human on this great earth to have that same opportunity. To do that, we need access to our purpose, our deepest truth, and support to align our lives and careers around that truth, so that we can powerfully respond, lead and create in times of chaos and confusion. We need each other. We need a place to be ourselves, to be real with each other, to share the journey, the struggles and the breakthroughs. |
BISON MEDICINE
Bison medicine (aka energy, power) is the intention of our community. Bison are herd animals found all over the world. Their medicine is one of care, purpose, strength and courage.
CARE Bison care for the herd and the prairie, by responsibly grazing and placing those most vulnerable in the center of the herd. PURPOSE To the Lakota, bison are symbol of manifestation of one's "giveaway" - one's unique purpose, genius and contribution to the tribe. STRENGTH Bison are the largest native land mammals in the United States. They protect the herd with speed (up to 40mph) and brute force, by ramming predators with their skull and horns. COURAGE Bison run toward a storm to get through it more quickly, versus cows who run away. Together we face our fears, face the indignity of the world, activate our purpose, and support each other in running toward the world we create. AGREEMENTS WE UPHOLD:#1 Inclusion I agree to welcome all people, and treat all people with dignity and respect, regardless of their gender, age, income, ethnicity, sexuality, faith, ability or nationality. #2 Care I agree to share my truth with kindness and consideration - in a way that others can hear. #3 Empathy I agree to treat others with empathy, curiosity and understanding. #4 Benefit of the doubt I agree to assume that others have positive intent, to ask them questions so I understand their intentions first before sharing my reactions. I also forgive myself and others when the impacts of my actions don not match my intent. #5 Presence I agree to being an active member of the community, adding the zoom and slack apps to my computer and smart phone, joining the slack channel, completing my profile, keeping slack notifications turned on, and posting in slack at least once a week. #6 Accountability I agree to keep and honor my word. If I break my word, I hold myself accountable to the impacts of my actions. I commit to holding myself accountable to my purpose and virtues. #7 Peer coach I agree to be a great peer coach by empathizing, asking people questions and sharing relevant resources and personal stories (versus judging or giving advice). #8 Confidentiality I agree to keep what others share confidential. I can share my own experience, but I do not share about what others post in slack or say over voice or video calls, unless I get their explicit permission. #9 Sovereignty I am over 18 years of age and agree to be fully responsible for my health and well-being. I agree to be sovereign in my communication, by using "I statements" to describe my emotions, feelings and judgments. As a sovereign, I agree to honor these agreements, and take action when these agreements are broken. #10 Purpose I agree to connect with my purpose on a daily or weekly basis, take at least 1 new purpose-aligned action per month, and share what I am learning with the community. |
